Sorry for the delayed post. But pahabol before this year ends! Here is part two of my blog coverage – the UP Diliman Lantern Parade 2015 Winners. Part 1 is here – the College of Fine Arts winners.
The UP Diliman Oblation with flames and torches designed by the artist Toym Imao
From the Oblation, this is how the University Avenue looked like. The white tents were the Banchetto food stalls. As early as 5 PM, a thick crowd had already gathered. I was warned by the daughter that parking and traffic would be difficult. So I did the next best thing – Uber (Get your code for a free ride from Uber here!) The plan was to have the hubs pick me up after the Lantern Parade.
So, where to get the best vantage point for the UP Diliman Lantern Parade? I read somewhere that the A.S. steps (Palma Hall) would be the best area. However, I saw that the walkway right before the A.S. steps had fewer people, so I positioned myself on one of the planter boxes (being careful not to step on the plants, opkors).
As soon as the UP Pep Squad passed by in front of our group, however, I regretted not choosing the A.S. steps. Because they performed a good few minutes right there, and the crowd went wild. Huhuhu… So, take note – next year, A.S. steps.
