Happy on Mother’s Day

I knew the kids were up to something…

The girls were always ‘busy’ doing some project behind closed doors in Patch’s room.

Then, on Friday morning, V hands me a list of grocery stuff.

V: “Can you please buy these? It’s for your… err… surprise breakfast on Mother’s Day. So, uh, it’s not a surprise. Anymore.”

So I definitely knew there was something up. (In fact, I knew the breakfast menu, haha!)

On Mother’s Day morning, I felt Hub waking the kids up at 7 AM. The two girls quietly left the room, talking in hush-hush voices. Teehee. Syempre di na ako nakatulog after that in anticipation. After a few minutes – they came in with a wonderful-smelling breakfast. Nate and hub got up… And they woke me up (I pretended to be asleep).

The breakfast crew (upper left) made breakfast-in-bed for iMom: a stack of Buttery French Toasts and a mug of hot choco. (Ewww, check out my fresh-from-the-bed look!)

And below is what the closed-door meetings were all about:

A “Happy Mother’s Day” letter project!

They were supposed to hang the letters from the dining room lights (hence the apostrophe in “Mothers” was omitted), but they had time constraints (read: Mom was always trying to be nosy).

Afterwards, we went to Trinoma to buy a pressure cooker… Errr, is it really for me? haha. (I think it’s for Ate Josie. I know what else she needs: chrome step stools for reaching up high into the kitchen cabinets, teehee.)
And then lunch at our new favorite Choi Garden.

My family always tries to make me feel special on Mother’s Day. And they never fail.

Thank you, iPatch, V, Nate for the wonderful surprise. And thank you, Hub, for always being in on everything. Love you always!

Flowers for Mother’s Day | gift ideas

During my years of med-repping, I always gave my female doctors a no-fail gift on their birthdays. Nope, not cakes or chocolates – those are commonplace.

What delighted female doctors most, I learned from James (my predecessor), was a surprise delivery of beautiful flowers to their clinics.

I had this suki flower shop at the back of Makati Med that did flower arrangements on vases so beautifully. All I had to do was go there to order first thing in the morning, and they will deliver to my delighted doctor. For me, being a woman myself, simply choosing the flowers and arrangement was such a pleasant task already. Finding myself surrounded by blooms at a flower shop wasn’t bad for an early morning call.

And when I go to make my call on the doctor, she will gush over how lovely the flowers are…

Tapos oorder na siya ng vaccines. Success! 😛

What I’m trying to say is this: kids, husbands – women are suckers for flowers (at least most of us are). Flowers have a special way of tugging at our hearts. And a surprise delivery of flowers for Mother’s Day will make us feel very special.

Bilib you me.

Husbands, kids – are you reading this? Go ahead, order some flowers and surprise your mom or wife on Mother’s Day.

Mommy Bloggers Meme| 5 Things I Love About Being A Mom

I got tagged by Noemi weeks (or months?) ago to join a global meme for mommy bloggers from around the world. I actually waited for Mother’s Day to do this. 😀

Mommy bloggers meme mother's day
My kids (actually, Patch, but the other two provided moral support hehe) surprised me with this creative piece of work on Mother’s Day! I felt so loved.

Here’s how the tag works:

I’m going to link to a couple of other mommy bloggers here in the Philippines, and to a couple of mom bloggers from other countries around the world, and they’ll write their posts, sharing 5 things that they love (or maybe what they don’t so much love – this playground doesn’t force conformity) about being a mom, and then they’ll tag a few more bloggers from their own country and from other countries, and so on.

Here are the top 5 things I love with being a mom:

1. I love the hearty hugs and wet kisses. My kids are, right now, at that stage where they love being hugged and kissed. I’ve even coined a term for this part of my job description – on-call hugs dispenser! And I love that they reciprocate! ( Well, okay… sometimes the pre-teen in the house feels awkward, especially when there are other people around. But I understand it’s a phase she has to go through, and that it could get worse. *heart breaking* ) Nate, my little baby boy, is the most malambing of the three. Methinks boys are naturally sweeter.

2. I love the giggling and laughter. Continue reading Mommy Bloggers Meme| 5 Things I Love About Being A Mom
