I was just browsing the Ebay Announcement pages when I stumbled upon this:
“The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently issued a recall for the following items:
Horse toys due to a lead paint hazard Paint brushes due to a lead paint hazard Tinker Bell wands due to a lead paint hazard Pirates of the Caribbean sleeping bags due to a lead paint hazard Little Rider Toys due to a lead paint hazard Children’s blankets due to a strangulation hazard.“
I clicked on the first link – horse toys due to a lead paint hazard. And this is what I found:
Description: The recalled horse toy has a push up base. When the base is pushed up, the toy horse is floppy. When released, the toy horse stands up straight. The horse is brown and white and the base is green with orange, red flowers and dark blue flowers.
Hazard: Surface paint on the toy horse contains excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard.
Incidents/Injuries: None reported.
OMG! I saw this toy, along with other animals and figures, during one of my recent expeditions to 168 Mall in Divisoria. My sisters and I found these toys really cute and funny when they go floppy. In fact, sister no. 5 went back on her own weeks later to buy several similar toys for giveaways on her kids’ birthday party! I immediately forwarded the link to her. I’m glad I did not buy any of these, although I was planning to for my own kids’ birthday party in July. 😮
Aside from the floppy wooden toys, others of similar make I saw being sold in that stall were pencils with colorful thingamaggies, flower pots and animals with clips. The resemblance with the recalled toy is too suspiciously close.
Please take time to read the rest of the links. You just might have those items lying around your home, or encounter them on your next shopping trip. Heads up!
