Italianni’s lunch sets were just recently launched. So it seems the economic crunch is affecting everyone. Even high-end restaurants such as Italianni’s have scaled down as their customers are tightening belts too.
To meet the challenges of the current economic situation, Italianni’s has come up with “SMALL PRICE FOR A BIG LUNCH” promo that will run until May 31, 2009.
In cooperation with M2.0 Communications, the Italian-American restaurant held a sumptuous feast for bloggers to sample the newest menu offering. Head Chef Sonny Ong gave a brief intro for each BIG LUNCH offering.
Dinner began with a serving of Italianni’s delectable starters – Fried Calamari with marinara sauce, my favorite Sicilian Chicken Salad and a platter of battered fish fillets, shrimps and zuchinni.
The five featured entrees were served one after the other. It was a glorious feast for the eyes, nose and the palate.
These two below were my favorites. TOP: Costina Brasatta (braised ribs) were off-the-bone tender. Chef Sonny says these braised in tomatoes, herbs and Marsala wine over low heat for 3 hours! BOTTOM: Pesci in Vino Bianco (fish fillet in white wine) is locally-farmed dory fillet which was wrapped with paper while cooking to keep the fish moist and tender. It was very flavorful and done just right.
The other entrees are, from top to bottom: Pollo con Rucola (chicken with arugula) – Herb roasted quarter chicken, topped with arugula and drizzled with balsamic vinaigrette ( a bit overdone and salty); Manzo di Arrosto (roasted ribeye) – Slow roasted imported ribeye with creamy mushroom gravy (perfectly done! I just had a small bite, because I’m not supposed to eat beef, hehe); Spredo del Pollo e Dei Pesci (fish and chicken skewers) – pesto marinated chicken and spice rubbed dory skewers (grilled just right – meats were not dry).
All BIG LUNCH entrees are served with spaghetti aglio e olio and grilled vegetables. Prices range from Php295 to Php350. Considering that the servings are quite hefty, it’s a reasonable price to pay.
My favorite part of any meal is dessert, of course! Italianni’s served us the most heavenly desserts. But because I am partial to baked cheescakes, the New York Cheesecake (upper left in the photo below) was my favorite.
Clockwise: Panna Cotta; Tartufo; Tiramisu; New York Cheesecake to die for.
