Hi there! 🙂 I took a short blog break and all of a sudden It’s mid-March. AND! All of a sudden, I feel the heat of summer upon us! Do you feel it too??
Anyway… The Holy Week break is just a couple of weeks ahead, and for those of you who aren’t planning to travel too far, here’s an idea for a staycation at Novotel Manila Araneta Center.
My family stayed at Novotel Manila overnight in December. It had the perfect location, as we were going to watch the Disney on Ice Magical Ice Festival at the Araneta Center. (Watch my videos of the Disney on Ice 2015 Magical Ice Festival in Manila.) Novotel Manila is just a few steps away from the Araneta Center.
Since Novotel Manila Araneta Center is a very new hotel (only a few months old), I wanted to try it out while the rooms and facilities were fresh.
I booked online using my Accor Hotels membership card. I availed of the family extra room package, with the second room at 50% off the rate of the first room. I think it was a good deal.
One small hitch – I wanted to get connected rooms or at least, adjacent ones, because the kids were supposed to stay in one room, and ahem, hubby and I in our own. I did indicate my preference for adjacent/connected rooms in the special request field in my online booking. However, during check-in, I was told that there were no available connected or adjacent rooms. Boo. I had to raise my bitch powers a bit – konti lang, naka smile naman ako ng bahagya – so the front manager upgraded us to club rooms. 😛
We were given rooms on the 15th floor. I ended up sharing a room with Patchy (grownup girls bonding), and hubs with the two younger ones. Our room had a view of Edsa –
Look at that smog… 🙁
I like the clean contemporary design of the room. The king bed was comfortable, and so were the pillows, which had that signature fold – for extra comfort when watching TV from the bed, y’know. Novotel knows. 😉
Instead of a bathtub, there’s a spacious shower. I love the overhead rainshower feature. Yep, that’s a glass wall, but of course there are blinds for privacy.
The minibar and the coffee/ tea maker –
One other thing that I like about Novotel Manila Araneta Center is the kids eat free policy for checked in guests. For breakfast, we paid for 3 adults, while the 2 kiddies (ages 14 and 9) ate for free. Love love love that! I blogged about the Novotel Manila Breakfast Buffet in a separate article here –> Novotel breakfast buffet at the Food Exchange
The swimming pool is at the 6th floor, where a poolside bar is also located.
A wonderful bonus was the fireworks display, which might have been a dry run for the hotel’s New Year’s Eve fireworks. Our high floor room offered a great view of the fireworks.
The family had a good experience over-all. We’d go back to Novotel Manila Araneta Center, and hopefully get connected rooms this time.
