Payong Gang pickpocket caught on camera

My daughter was victimized by this Payong Gang pickpocket.

Sometimes life lets things happen when we least expect it and we are caught unprepared. That’s just what happened to my daughter yesterday.

Payong Gang pickpocket

I am almost paranoid when it comes to the safety of my kids. I am sure I annoy them with my incessant reminders to be careful whenever we are out.

“Remember, these bad people do not have other jobs. They wake up in the morning and have nothing else in mind: who to prey on. That’s their job…  they are always on the lookout kung sino’ng bibktimahin nila. Kids like you are their targets… blah blah blah blah…”

I go on and on and on.  Continue reading Payong Gang pickpocket caught on camera

Coping with skin asthma (Atopic Dermatis)

It’s not easy for my son and my family to cope with his skin asthma.
coping with skin asthma

Nate is in the midst of what could be his worst and longest skin asthma flare-up yet. And it is breaking our hearts to see him itching, oozing, struggling, wanting to do so many things in school, but not being able to do so. Even simply joining P.E. class is hard for him because sweating makes him itch. And sweat on his broken skin  – very very painful. 🙁

Sometimes, I think I’d put a sandwich sign around my son’s neck. It will read:

I have skin asthma.

No, not contagious.

Yes, very itchy. And painful.

Yes, I have meds. Lotions too.

And creams. And ointments.

And salts in my bath.

Nope – chips, candies, chocolate and Coke not allowed.

Yes, a little compassion please.

He’s been getting really bad flareups lately. And things get very frustrating at times. Today, he is absent in school again because the skin on his neck is oozing, and just turning his head is painful.

I really did not need to see the horrified look on that mommy’s face in school when she saw his neck yesterday. Pfffft. Or hear from Nate that some classmates think he looks like a zombie. (That’s rude, kids. But, oh well…)

Only the good: Positive blogging

(Image from Pinterest)

I don’t believe in New Year’s resolutions so I rarely make any.

This year, though, I resolve to do this: I will post only about positive things and thoughts in my blog and social networks. I’ve had my share of rant posts in the past (it could be the age, y’know) and, looking back, they aren’t very pleasant to read. Reading about rants and complaints drags people down.

I need to remind myself more often that negativity is a very strong force – stronger than positivity. And the more I talk, think, post negatively, the more negative forces I attract to myself. I want a good year for my family and loved ones, so I will talk, think, post only about positive things –  the law of attraction!

Not all are innately optimistic, and the attitude takes a lot of cultivating. So share with me – what’s your strategy in keeping your mind positive?

Here’s to positive blogging!

I’m back!

Wow! It’s still Christmas here??! 😛

I can’t believe how this year’s first quarter just zoomed by! And how I have totally neglected this blog.

Work is what got in the way.

Work-from-home perks: working in pajamas and in the company of Parker 😀

I am thankful, though, for being blessed with a home-based job. In the past 5 months, I realized how lucky stay-at-home moms are today, because they have opportunities that were not available 10 years ago. I’m talking about online jobs that run the gamut from writing, blogging, managing social networks, customer service, and virtual assistants. Home-based jobs are ideal for moms like me who have kids and a home to take care of, but still want to keep a job. I will blog (fingers crossed!) about this on another day.

Anyway, I’m so back. I wanted to renew my commitment to blogging because it’s this blog, after all, that has led to a lot of opportunities for me. And I miss blogging! I miss sharing with you my inanities and randomness. I miss going to events! Hopefully I’d be able to manage my time better and update this blog at least once a week.

I want to send a special shout-out to those who have been visiting and leaving comments despite the obvious inactivity around here. Thank you! 🙂

Why hello there, blog! (v. 5.4.1)

It’s a chilly December morning in Metro Manila, and I am loving every moment of it… Oh yeah, I have a blog! Lemme check on it…

For the __nth time, I’ve totally neglected my blog. Boohoo.

So I am finding this time to do a quickie. (Hmm, not my favorite term, by the way. 😀 Do a quick search and you will find only one other post with “quickie” in it hehe.)

I honestly have not even visited my own blog in weeks! I was expecting it to be dead in terms of traffic. But wow, thank you, readers for keeping my blog traffic alive!

There aren’t new blog posts, but if you could click on the “Archives” and “Categories” here to the right —->, you’ll find that there are over 5 years’ worth –  5 years! – of blog entries. Well, yeah, some are just nonsense stories about my kids, others are recipes and food places you might find interesting.

So what’s been keeping me so busy? Yes, I am still tsupernanay (translation: chauffeur extraordinaire) to my kids. On top of that, I’ve taken on a really nice work-from-home job that I enjoy so much. Suffice it to say that I Tweet and Facebook (v.) for a living. Hmmm, not actually for my whole family’s “living” (that is husband’s job), but I get decent pay and love, love, love, love what I do!

Okay, I’ll end this post before it gets any more random.

And in case I disappear again into my work cave and forget to greet you, let me be the first to say:

Merry Christmas! Fill your hearts with love, joy and positivity. Enough with the hate and biatching- there’s too much of that already. 😛

“Joy is what happens to us when we allow ourselves to recognize how good things really are.” ~Marianne Williamson

(I hope to be back though – I haven’t posted my wishlist yet!)
